The victory secured another championship for the club from Nohadra (Duhok), a proud symbol of the Assyrian people in Iraq, and extended a run of success that has brought greater visibility to women's sports in Iraq.
The players of Sanharib dominated the decisive match, winning the three sets 25--19, 25--15 and 25--14. The team finished the league campaign unbeaten, winning all 5 of its matches to collect 15 points and claim first place.
Akad Ankawa, based in Arba'ilo (Erbil), finished second with 12 points, while Baghdede (Qaraqosh)'s team took third place with 6 points.
The championship marks another milestone for Sanharib Women's Club, which won its previous Iraqi league title in 2025 after defeating Akad Ankawa 3--1. That victory secured the club's second national championship at the time and established it as a formidable contender in the women's competition.
The latest result further consolidates the club's standing in a league that brings together teams from different parts of Iraq, including clubs with strong roots in the country's Suraya community.
The success carries significance beyond the final score. Clubs such as Sanharib, Akad Ankawa and Qaraqosh have provided platforms for women athletes to compete at the national level, demonstrating the role of sport in strengthening community participation and public visibility.
Sanharib's successful title defense is also a testament to the consistency required to sustain success in competitive sport. By finishing the season with 5 victories, the team secured the championship through results across the competition rather than a single decisive performance.
With another national title secured, Sanharib has reaffirmed its place at the forefront of Iraqi women's volleyball and given its supporters another reason to celebrate.
