Hasaka, Syria (AINA) -- Kurdish forces in northeast Syria, known as the People's Defense Units (YPG), have arrested four of their own members for the murder of David Gindo and the attempted murder of Elias Naser. On April 22nd commander David Gindo and Elias Naser were shot (AINA 2015-05-23) after agreeing to go with five members of the YPG to a meeting. They were instead driven to an unknown location and shot. David Gindo was killed immediately. Elias Naser was critically wounded and left for dead, but he survived. He is unable to speak because one bullet hit his throat.

In a statement posted on its website, YPG said it had arrested four suspects and the investigation is continuing. The statement says the suspects "...are individuals and they do not represent the YPG and our position as the People's Defense Units." But written testimony from Elias Naser said the five men who shot him and Mr. Gindo are members of the YPG.

Joined by his family, Mr. Naser is now recuperating at an undisclosed location in Syria for fear for his life.
