Turkish main opposition Party of Republican People's Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who is paying a visit to Germany, visited the a mosque and several Greek and Assyrian churches in Cologne. The mosque, which was constructed by Turkish Religion Affairs Directorate's Turkish-Islamic Union, could not be opened to worship yet due to some bureaucratic obstacles of Cologne's local government. Visiting the mosque Kilicdaroglu also was informed by Turkish officials about what kind of problems they are facing in completing the construction works. Within the scope of his visit to Cologne, opposition leader visited ancient Greek and Assyrian churches either. Kilicdaroglu was welcomed warmly in both of the churches by priests and Greek and Assyrian community mostly who has emigrated from Turkey. In the Assyrian church, Kilicdaroglu got some information about the situation of Assyrian community in Cologne. Meanwhile, some members of the community said to CHP leader that they hope they could get back the rights on Assyrian properties in Turkey.
