Suicide Bomber Kills 3 in Mosul, Wounds Advisor on Christian Affairs

(AINA) -- A source in the police of Nineveh province reported on Thursday that a suicide bombing in Mosul killed three of the bodyguards of the Nineveh governor's advisor on Christian affairs and wounded three others, including the advisor himself.

The police source said in an interview with Sumaria News, "As a result of the suicide bombing which targeted this afternoon the convoy of the Nineveh governor's advisor on Christian affairs, Maajid Ibrahim Hannaa, in the area of Kuk-Jali in east Mosul, the death toll stood at three of the members of his bodyguard detail and the wounding of the advisor himself, his driver and a child, encountering traffic at the moment of the bombing."

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, added: "A security force has surrounded the area of the incident and has taken the wounded to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment and the corpses of the killed to the department of forensic medicine, while an investigation has been opened into the information regarding its [the bombing's] circumstances and the question of who was responsible for it."

A source in the police of Nineveh province had reported earlier on Thursday that at least three members of the bodyguard of the Nineveh governor's advisor for Christian affairs had been killed and a child was wounded in a suicide bombing that targeted the advisor's convoy in the area of Kuk-Jali in east Mosul.
