(AINA) -- A new website dedicated to promoting and protecting Assyrian (also known as Chaldean and Syriac) rights has been launched by mideastyouth.com. According to the website, Assyrian Rights, its mission is to:

...raise awareness about the Assyrian nation that continues to be discriminated against and marginalized in the Middle East. Our efforts will include documenting current abuses, encouraging people to take action in support of the cause, celebrating Assyrian culture, and commemorating their history.

The website was launched on August 7, the official Assyrian Martyrs Day, which is observed by Assyrians worldwide in commemoration of Assyrians who have lost their lives in genocides and pogroms throughout history.
