Iranian Assyrians to Protest Against Attack on Iraqi Church
Bookmark and Share

TEHRAN -- Iranian Assyrians will hold a gathering in front of the UN office in Tehran on Monday to show their wrath over attack on a church in Iraq. The gathering will be held between 14 to 15 o'clock local time. 52 people died and 67 wounded in an attack on Our Lady of Deliverance church in Baghdad on November 7. The attack, which an Al-Qaeda-linked organization claimed responsibility for, was the deadliest against Iraq's Christian minority since the U.S.-led occupation began in 2003. It chilled the hearts of the remaining members of the Iraqi Christian community, who have so far resisted the urge to flee from the war-torn country. Many groups of Assyrians around the world have held protests to express their anger against killing of Iraqi Christians in Baghdad.
