Nineveh Plain, Iraq (AINA) -- The Nineveh Centre for Research and Development, an Assyrian NGO in northern Iraq, has announced the implementation of the first combined Assyrian-Arabic street signs in Assyrian areas. Permission to install street signs in Assyrian was granted by the Nineveh province officials, but they did but not provide a budget for the project. Assyrian organizations in the west have instead financed the Assyrian street signs. For Assyrians this is the first time they are allowed to have street signs in the Assyrian language in Iraq. The aim is to have street signs in Assyrian in the entire Nineveh plain area.
