50,000 Assyrians Celebrate New Year in North Iraq

(AINA) -- 50,000 Assyrians ushered in the 6757th Assyrian year with a parade in Noohadra (Dohuk), north Iraq. The Assyrian New Year, called the Akitu Festival, falls on the Vernal Equinox (March 20-21) and is celebrated for 12 days.
