Kurdish Terrorist Group Offers Conditional Truce to Turkey

ANKARA -- The terrorist group the PKK has offered an conditional truce in its fight against Turkey, prompted by a US call for the organisation to lay down its arms.

The offer was made late Wednesday by Murat Karayilan, the second in command of the PKK. Among the conditions set by the PKK were the release of its imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan, the recognition of Kurdish identity and the acceptance of Kurdish as the second language of Turkey Karayilan also said that Turkey must issue a statement of willingness to enter into dialogue with the PKK. All the conditions set by the PKK have in the past been categorically rejected by Ankara.
