More Than Twenty Assyrians Detained in Syria

(AINA) -- More than twenty Assyrians have been detained by Syrian police in the al-Hasake district of Syria. The Assyrians had participated in a demonstration on Saturday protesting the murder of two Assyrians on October 16 by Muslims. No charges have been filed against the detained Assyrians. The murderers of the Assyrians have not been arrested.
On October 16 Naseem Abraham, a 35 year old married Assyrian man, was murdered; his friend Yalda Yacoub was shot when he attempted to help him and subsequently died at the hospital (story).
Representitives of the Assyrian Democratic Organization in Syria have stated that more arrests are expected.
